New in the Deli: Slow Dough

Starting THIS SATURDAY (13th of October) we will be stocking fantastic artisan breads from the Slow Dough Bakery in Tattingstone.

Bread is something we all know and love.  Few can deny that one of the greatest food pleasures in life is a plump chunk of butter thrust onto some warm, freshly baked bread.  In the middle of the 20th century, modern methods became the fashion and the more traditional styles of bread fell out of favour.

Now things have come full circle – people can no longer get excited about the dull, lifeless pap churned out by the supermarkets.   That’s where the Slow Dough Bakery people come in.  Real, genuinely proper French baguettes, slowly fermented and baked using traditional methods – that’s the kind of thing we’re getting excited about.  And sourdoughs – good gracious, the sourdoughs.

There’s a link at the bottom of this post to their website, so you can have a look at their full range, but our first order in the Deli will include Chelsea buns, Campagrains, Five-seed malthouse, olive & rosemary focaccias, rye & caraway, and a couple of Pain au levain breads.  Obviously as it becomes more popular there will be more to choose from.

Don’t forget you can leave an order with us if you want something specific and want it put aside so you don’t have to rush in just as we open (this also applies to our regular bread from De’Ath’s Bakery).  Just pop in and let us know what you want, or drop us an e-mail.

We look forward to seeing you, so why not crumb on down and have a look?
